Corona Virus Transmission and The Phenomenon of False Informations Spread Related to COVID-19

Corona Virus Transmission – We have been hearing many times about how this Corona Virus or we know as COVID-19 infects from one person to another in a very fast transmission which can infect hundred even thousands people in a day, not to mention how some people made their own statement and theories about
how this virus spreads without knowing the sources can be trusted or not, otherwise it causes paranoia, anxiety in the middle of people. This is why in this blog we would like to try to collect the trusted sources for our knowledge or as a friendly reminder for ourselves while dealing with the
I would like to add few False Infomations spread among people :

  • High Temperature or UV light radiation can kill the virus
Fact : Until now, the researchers have been studying how to stop and reduce the virus’s life cycle. The fact is the UV doesn’t affect the virus because there is no place in this world where has the lower risk of not being infected. You can be infected no matter where you live. 1 Although sunbathe itself has some advantages such as helping the body to produce Vitamind D and serotonin naturally which can help body to fight diseases, boost the mood and act to improve the immune system. 2
  • Adding Hot peppers into your soup to cure COVID-19
Fact : Adding pepper into your soup or other meals does not prevent or cure COVID-19. 3
  • COVID-19 is transmitted through houseflies.
Fact: There is no evidence or information to suggest that the COVID-19 virus transmitted through houseflies. The virus that cause COVID-19 spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. You can also become infected
by touching a contaminated surface and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth before washing your hands. 3
  • Drinking Alcohol 70%, bleach or injecting desinfectant.
Some people must have heard this controversial statement about injecting desinfectant could kill the virus inside of the body or we also read some news where the people took alcohol 70% or bleach orally, instead of killing the virus, it ended up killing themselves or ended up in the hospital.
Fact : Methanol, ethanol, and bleach are poisons. Drinking them can lead to disability and death. Methanol, ethanol, and bleach are sometimes used in cleaning products to kill the virus on surfaces – however you should never drink them. They will not kill the virus in your body and they will harm your internal organs. 3
  • Holding your breathe for 10 seconds. It was famous once and many people did this.Fact: Being able to hold your breath for 10 seconds or more without coughing or feeling discomfort DOES NOT mean you are free from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) or any other lung disease.3

There are so many more these kind of false informations among the people and caused anxiety, panic and paranoia. Then what are the exact things we should know related to COVID-19 transmission so we can avoid it and reduce the transmission possibilities.

WHO is continously monitoring and responding to this outbreak. They explained already that people can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease spreads primarily from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth, which are expelled when a person with COVID-19 coughs, sneezes, or speaks. These droplets are relatively heavy, do not travel far and quickly sink to the ground. People can catch COVID-19 if they breathe in these droplets from a person infected with the virus.  This is why it is important to stay at least 1 meter) away from others.
These droplets can land on objects and surfaces around the person such as tables, doorknobs and handrails.  People can become infected by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.  This is why it is important to wash your hands regularly with soap and water or
clean with alcohol-based hand rub. 4
